Gillian Daly

Gillian Daly is an Irish pianist and music educator based in Melbourne. She enjoys a diverse musical career as a teacher, choral accompanist and pianist.
Gillian is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she completed a postgraduate degree under scholarship in Piano Accompaniment (M.Mus). During her studies, Gillian was the recipient of awards including The Alex Menzies Prize for excellence in Piano accompaniment, First prize in the Elgar Spedding Lieder Competition and the Sam Hutchings Accompaniment Fellowship. Gillian also earned a Bachelor of Music Education with first class honours from Trinity College Dublin (B.Mus.Ed), a Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) and an Associate Diploma in Piano Teaching from the Royal Irish Academy of Music (ARIAM).
As a choral accompanist, Gillian’s previous positions include: Accompanist at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Department (2017-2021), Chorus Academy Pianist with The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) (2018-2021), Pianist for the National Youth Choir of Scotland and pianist for the National Youth Choir of Northern Ireland. Gillian also has many years of experience working with adult and children community choirs.
A passionate music educator, Gillian works as both an instrumental and classroom music teacher and has a keen interest in Kodály inspired teaching and learning. She is currently Head of Keyboard and Theory in Lauriston Girls' School, Melbourne. Previously, she was Head of Keyboard at The High School of Glasgow, Scotland (2017-2021).
